Amputee Support Groups and Self-Help Clearinghouses

Amputee Support Groups offer peer support, information sharing and in some cases, counseling services. Many groups also offer support for spouses and siblings.

Self-Help Clearinghouses offer varying services but all provide information and referrals to local support groups.

Many provide assistance to persons starting new support groups and offer consultation to existing groups. Some have developed how-to materials, training workshops and specialized group listings.

Directories and newsletters are available through a number of Self-Help Clearinghouses. Most maintain a library of self-help literature.
